Today was a significant milestone in the South West Native Title Settlement, as the first land parcels were signed over into the Noongar Boodja Trust at a signing ceremony at Parliament House.
These lead transfers signal the start of a 5 year process of up to 300,000 ha of land being allocated as Crown Reserve or leasehold and up to 20,000 ha of land being allocated as freehold.
There's still a lot of work ahead of us to work towards bringing the Noongar Boodja Trust into full Noongar control. Today, however, we will celebrate this important step and reflect on the hard work we've done so far.
