Change in leadership as new Chair appointed

  • Chair Brendan Moore has stepped down from the SWALSC Board

  • Noongar man Noel Morich is appointed as the new Chair

The South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) welcomes the appointment of Noongar man, Mr Noel Morich, as the new Chair.

Mr Morich is the Whadjuk Director for SWALSC and has assisted many Aboriginal Corporations throughout his career. He has a degree in Accounting and Business Law, extensive management experience in the public sector, and has managed several Aboriginal businesses in the Northern Territory, Cairns and Western Australia. Mr Morich also served as a diplomat in Africa and was responsible for AusAID programs in Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola.

The SWALSC Board thanks Mr Brendan Moore for his valuable contributions as Chair since his appointment in April 2021.

Mr Morich was appointed as the new Chair until the next AGM, which will be held in late 2023.

“I look forward to continuing the important work with the SWALSC Board and taking on the role as Chair. I am excited to lead the team and contribute to our overall goal of building a strong and unified Noongar Nation.” Mr Morich said.

Chief Executive Officer of SWALSC, Ms Vanessa Kickett, said “It’s great to have Noel Morich as our new Chair. We are confident that Noel’s extensive business and leadership experience will be an asset to our Board, and will help to lead SWALSC in a positive direction.”
