GENERAL MEETING NOTICE
Members of Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation are invited to attend the first general meeting, to be held on Saturday, 25 June 2022, at The Rise, 28 Eighth Ave, Maylands, starting at 10.00am.
We have an exciting journey ahead of us as we progress towards endorsement as a corporation, and begin to implement the Settlement along with the other Noongar corporations.
The initial directors will run this general meeting and update members on their activity so far. At the end of the meeting, the new member elected directors will begin their terms. They will begin the work of appointing staff, establishing an office and finalising our endorsement.
To ensure that our meeting will go ahead as planned, and be as accessible as possible, the meeting will be held on country and also online. If COVID restrictions mean we have to cancel the on country gathering, the meeting will still take place online to avoid delays to our progress towards full endorsement as a regional corporation.
We ask that you consider the safety of our community and our Elders by attending online if you have any COVID symptoms or have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID. Although they are not mandatory at this time, we also encourage you to wear a well-fitted mask as an extra precaution. We will have available face masks, hand sanitiser and RAT tests for members if required, and ask that you maintain social distance where possible.
To attend the meeting online, please register by 4pm Friday, 24 June by emailing regionalcorporations@noongar.org.au. This will be used to email the Zoom meeting details and your unique link and ID to vote in the cultural advice committee ballot on the day. We will also give you some information about how to make your online experience as smooth as possible. If you do not register with a unique email address by this date, you may not be able to vote in the cultural advice committee ballot.
We encourage all members of the Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation to join us for this meeting, to help make our new regional corporation strong and successful.
Yours sincerely,
Whadjuk interim directors
