The 2023 AIATSIS Summit has officially opened on the lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation.
This year’s Summit is co-convened with the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC).
Ms Vanessa Kickett has been appointed as the first female Noongar Chief Executive Officer of the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC).
A proud Noongar woman with more than 20 years of leadership, business development and community and stakeholder engagement, Ms Kickett has a long history in supporting and advocating for Noongar people.
As a response to ongoing community concerns relating to Noongar Charitable Trust matters, SWALSC have reported the matter to the Ombudsman who have confirmed they will be investigating the matter under their powers pursuant to the new Charitable Trusts Act 2022.
SWALSC will keep the community up to date on any information as it becomes made available to pass on to our members.
This year's AIATSIS Summit will be held on Noongar boodja, co-convened by SWALSC. It will be held from 5 to 9 June, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
AIATSIS are currently calling for papers, with the abstract submission portal closing soon, on 14 February 2023.
